নিজের সবটুকু দিয়ে যিনি সন্তানদের আগলে রাখেন তিনি হলেন বাবা।
এ কথা চিরসত্য যে, পৃথিবীতে যদি সবচেয়ে বেশি ধৈর্যশীল কেউ থাকেন তিনি হলেন বাবা। বাবা হলেন একজন নির্ভীক নাবিকের মতো। যে নাবিক শত ঝড়, তুফানের মাঝেও জাহাজ বাঁচাতে চেষ্টার ত্রুটি রাখেন না। বাবাও তেমন সব বাধা-বিপত্তি থেকে পরিবারকে রক্ষা করতে জীবনের সর্বস্ব দিয়ে চেষ্টা করে যান। তিনিই বাবা যিনি সন্তানের আনন্দের খবরে না হেসে, গম্ভীর গলায় বলেন, আরো ভালো কিছু হতে হবে। পরক্ষণেই আড়ালে গিয়ে সন্তানের সাফল্যে নীরবে চোখের অশ্রু ঝরান। বাবাকে নিয়ে লেখার যোগ্যতা আমি রাখি না। তবে কিছুটা অনুভব করি বাবা বড্ড একঘেয়ে একটা মানুষ। জীবনের সুখের সময়টা সবার সাথে ভাগ করে নিলেও দুঃখের সময়ের ভাগটা কাউকে দিতে অনিচ্ছুক এই মানুষটি।
আর বাবার স্বপ্নকে পূরণ করতে সন্তানদের যে অবহেলা বর্তমান ও অতীত সময়ে পরিলক্ষিত হয়েছে, হয়। তা সত্যিই দুঃখজনক। সেই ছোট্টবেলায় যখন হাঁটতে গিয়ে আছাড় খেয়ে ব্যথা পেতাম আমাদের তখন বাবা ছিল পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে সেরা ওষুধ। আমরা তখন বাবার হাতের আঙুলটি ধরে হেঁটে বেড়াতাম। বাবা একটি একটি করে পৃথিবীর প্রত্যেকটি সৃষ্টিকে চিনাতেন হাত ধরে ধরে। যখন আমাদের ঘুম পেত মা আমাদের ঘুম পাড়াতেন। কিন্তু বাবা তো সন্তানকে কোলে না নিয়ে কখনো ঘুমাতে পারতেন না। বাবার বুকে মাথা রেখেই ঘণ্টার পর ঘণ্টা, বছরের পর বছর কাটিয়েছি আমরা। যাকে ছাড়া নিজেদের কল্পনা করাও যায় না। আর তাই বয়সের ভারে যখন বাবার দেহটা আর চলতে পারে না। যখন তিনি ছোট্ট শিশুর মতো হয়ে যান, যখন তিনি খুঁজে বেড়ান সন্তানের হাত। যখন খুঁজে বেড়ান সন্তানের বুকে মাথা রেখে সন্তানের হাতের কোমল পরশে ক্লান্ত দেহে একটু ঘুম। তিনিও যখন সন্তানের হাতটি ধরে চলতে চান জীবনের অন্তিম সময়গুলো। তখন হাতে গোনা কয়েকজন ছাড়া বর্তমান সমাজে বাবার প্রতি যে অবহেলা আমরা করি তা সত্যিই সন্তানদের জন্য বড়ই লজ্জা ও কলঙ্কজনক। অথচ আমরা ভুলে যাই আমাদের অস্তিত্বের উৎসই বাবা।
অতএব, আমাদের জীবনের অস্তিত্বের উৎস, জীবনের প্রকৃত নায়ক বাবার স্থানটা হোক নিজের ঘরে, মনের মসজিদে, পরম ভালোবাসায় প্রত্যেকের হৃদয়ে। আর বার্ধক্য সময়গুলোতে সব সময় তার সুযোগ-সুবিধা ও কল্যাণের দিকটা প্রাধান্য পাক। ভালো থাকুক, সুস্থ থাকুক ও নিরাপদ থাকুক পৃথিবীর সব বাবা-মা।

Baba used to know every creation of the world one by one holding hands. When we were sleepy mother used to put us to sleep. But the father could never sleep without holding the child. We spent hours after hours, years after years, resting our heads on our father's chest. Without which we cannot imagine ourselves. And so when the father's body can no longer move due to age. When he becomes like a little child, when he finds the child's hand. When looking for a little sleep on the child's chest with the head on the soft palm of the child's hand. When he also wants to hold the child's hand in the last moments of life. Except for a few then, the neglect we do towards fathers in today's society is really shameful and scandalous for the children. But we forget that Father is the source of our existence.
